Chopper Twirls Wildly into Palm Fronds at Popular California Coast
An aircraft soaring near a crowded southern California shoreline unexpectedly commenced twirling out of control, ultimately descending rapidly and crashing into a cluster of palm fronds as onlookers observed.
Videos posted on the internet capture the chopper starting to spin above the shoreline then falling towards the perimeter of the beach, where it ends up lodged among palm groves and a staircase close to the shoreline route.
Rescue Operation Information
Local firefighters said five people were taken to hospital comprising two individuals who were in the aircraft and were “rescued from the debris” following the incident on that day.
Three individuals on the road were hurt. Specifics on their injuries were not immediately available.
The reason for the accident was not immediately released.
Planned Function
The department indicated the chopper was connected to an annual “Cars N Copters” charity gathering set for the next day.
